Mastering CD-ROM Technology by Larry Boden
1995
Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) - Collaborated with President Porter on history of the institution. I hooked up with HARC because of compression research for the Wiley book into HARC-C. The 465-word description of string theory I wrote for this was pronounced a "miracle" by Prof. Dimitri Nanopoulos, one of the world's leading authorities on the subject.
Larry Boden, Spade & Archer Consulting - Our projects included my ghostwriting his Mastering CD-ROM Technology book for John Wiley & Sons based on Larry's research materials and guidance, with the exception of the compression standards where I really got original. We also worked together on several of his articles for CD-ROM Professional and One to One, and collaborated on a major business plan for a CD manufacturing facility.
1994
Participated in multi-studio pitch of animation property with Jillian Sosin ("Timmy the Tooth" Executive Producer). Wrote or revised all written presentation materials. Initial design for related computer/video game project received offer by Activision to supply $2.5 million for development.
1993-94
Associate Producer of 3 books on tape created by noted voiceover actor Pat Fraley, including title voiced by Joe Mantegna. Responsibilities primarily script development. Also authored audiovisual series on health issues for a Microsoft-assisted program in the ProSports training facility in Seattle.
1989-92
Homemaker. Supervised $150K house remodel-resale project. Word-processed screenplays for others. Wrote book on word-processing which was accepted by Barron's on content but not published due to market analysis of anticipated financial returns.
1983-89
Extensive office support and administration including word-processing & legal secretarial.
76-83
B.A. Columbia, Anthropology, Phi Beta Kappa in 1980.
Graduate Carmen Fellow in Anthropology, Columbia, 80-81.
Boalt Hall School of Law (U.C. Berkeley) 82-83.

MAGAZINE PIECES
11/96
MacAddict- "AMBER: Journeys Beyond" game review
9/30/96
CommunicationsWeek - BOTI Business On The Internet Awards profile of "Best Informational Intranet: Columbia/HCA Healthcare" (about ten profiles down, at this link)
Pamela Hobbs illustration
Multimedia Producer
7/96
Profile of Yale C/AIM's Pat Lynch & Delivery column on Bandai's Pippin platform (not on line). I've made a Pat Lynch Jumpstation to go with the cover story, including interview transcripts.
3/96
Replicating Success Issues in CD manufacturing for '96, such as quality control, anti-piracy, and the pre-Christmas season madness. My CD Replicators Hotlinks page was for this article.
2-96
Staying Alive: Laserdisc Considering that LD never penetrated very far into the market, it's hanging in there very well and actually has some advantages over other formats.
8/95
CD-Web Now that hybrids between web and CD are more common, this suggestion is no longer unusual...but it still needs to happen. For example, web-based workgroups sharing image-banks off CD-R. (This sidebar not online at magazine site.) My posting was cited by The CD Information Center.
6-95
Do It Yourself Replication A walk through of the major steps in getting your own CD-ROMs premastered, replicated, and packaged. This was my first article and one of the magazine's first online efforts, so forgive them the broken image at the top or the fact that some paragraphs repeat themselves (they won't fix it).
