Arvat:

With the rising of the sun, the fog melted away from the surface of the Storm
Sea. It revealed twenty ships, alarmingly close to the entrance to Arvat's harbor.
Though each ship had a mast, they weren't trusting to the wind but were coming in
under the propulsion of oars, thirty oars to a vessel manned by warriors in mail
shirts and helms.
Duke Arrnet stared in shock for a long moment. What use his handful of warriors
against six hundred Easterners? Then he drew himself up stiffly. There were many
criticisms that might be leveled against him, but no one had ever said that Arrnet of
Arvat was a coward. "Give the signal to raise the chains across the channel and fix
them in place," he said to Arenamistress Sugar. "Swordsmen to defend the anchor
points as long as they can but not to make martyrs of themselves. Archers here where
they can sweep the waterfront. And everyone remember their lines of retreat and the
rallying points!"

Niatoli:

"This is spooky," Crud said finally, then turned his back on the campsite.
"Strange, but it happened," Snow Wolf agreed. "If we knew the reason--"
"I sent them away." The voice seemed to emerge from the air. A moment later, a
man emerged from the scrubby trees. He was of medium height and slim build and looked
elven, more or less; somehow, he seemed wispy. He was dressed as plainly as any
shepherd on the hills, but there was authority in his manner. "You might call me, er,
Windweaver. I'm the lord of Niatoli," he explained apologetically.
"What lord?" Darkskye demanded. "I never heard that this island had a lord!"
"I do not, er, make a song and dance of it," Windweaver said mildly. "I have no
desire to, er, assess fines against brawlers or investigate the fairness of prices in
the market, or, er, anything of that nature. The, ah, burgesses attend to all that,
and very well, too. But these, er, people--" he waved one slim hand toward the
pirates' campsite, "they were intruders. They added nothing to life on Niatoli. They
were not wanted here. So I, er, sent them away."
"Can you do that to the invaders, if they come here?" Maple Sugar asked eagerly.
"Er, no, probably not. These fellows were, ah, few in number and had no, um,
magician with them." Windweaver looked embarrassed. "They did not, in any case, want
to, ah, stay here. I fear that the invaders will be, er, more difficult. There will
have to be..." he looked revolted, "...violence."

                                      SPY REPORT

Greetings, Warriors of BARIKALA. Allow this humble servant Novgorodny Vir to
give you a respite from the fights in the form of this Spyreport. W.K.S. had cause
to celebrate, after HOGAR got 23 points by beating VETERAN MERCENARY. Those who
hoped for a new Duelmaster were disappointed by SHADOW WOLF, of ROYAL ASSASSINS, who
despite a 13-4-4 couldn't overcome BARIKALA's Number 1. Word has it one team in
BARIKALA is using psychics to predict wins. They lead a charmed life!
So much to report, so little time! Like the noble eagle soaring amongst the
mountaintops, so stand the warriors of ROYAL ASSASSINS, alone and unchallenged. As a
woman of good breeding scorns the "warriors" of BAD NEWS, so did that sorry team shy
from ROYAL ASSASSINS If challenges were horses, SHIONO could open up a fast food
joint! Take heed BARIKALA, of the unprincipled action of GLAURUNG. By challenging
SHIONO, 23 points below him, GLAURUNG besmirches the noble art of dueling. Warriors
of BARIKALA! Do you wish your reputations tainted by the base challenge of GLAURUNG?
My love of complete Spyreports dictates that I note the mismatched fight, ROCKMYSTER
and THE RASH. Are ROYAL ASSASSINS unwilling to engage in a fair fight? I thought
ROCKMYSTER showed great skill and promise when he was beat by THE RASH. All right,
so I slept through it! Big deal!
Like the wind whispering among the pines, do hearest I many disquieting rumors.
Questions are being raised about the disposing of severed body parts in the arena. A
certain tavern in BARIKALA would I avoid!
Leave me now, you base fools! As the seasons change, and the creatures of the
wild change also, so do I feel a yearning to leave this place. Like a mixed
metaphor, and an overtaxed simile, I now bid BARIKALA farewell-- Novgorodny Vir

Garlock -- Dammit! How dare you lose to Goop? -- Tigran

Glaurung -- Weak, perhaps, but not worthless. I am such a reliable instructor, after
all. -- Shiono

Lost Diamond -- Found you! -- Dourgaine

Draco -- That was rather fast, wasn't it? -- Hogar

Arac Ironfist -- I am a patient man. I will reclaim the throne! And soon. -- Shadow
Wolf

Tigran -- Goop and Garlock have been here a long time and have faced each other eight
times. Garlock is 3-5 against Goop. So I propose a deal...you send Goop to the Dark
Arena and I will send Garlock. If you agree, let's do it on turn 185. If not, the
battles continue, but I am tired of their fights. -- Chade, mgr. Royal Assassins
P.S. Two less TP's won't hurt either.

Chade -- What I do? -- Garlock

Hogar -- Dammit! I wasn't ready. -- Draco

Everyone now knows that DM-33 is one of the "Fiercest & Best Free Blades Arena"
around. The Hammer and others have done wonderful things for that arena. With 50 or
so teams, DM-33 is fun, challenging and a joy to play in. However, I am not here to
talk about DM-33. I want to talk to you about DM-43, Veastian.
DM-43 is not a large arena, we have only 8 teams here right now. It is small,
and not the greatest arena around...yet. We need YOU to help make this a great
arena. Since it's so small, this is your chance to get in on the ground floor and
become a cornerstone of this arena. Not many have this chance. DM-33 is great, but
it is crowded. Here in DM-43 you will not be one of the many, you will be one of the
best. For all of you Noblish Island managers, this is your chance to transfer your
team to an arena where you will have an immediate impact on the game. This is an
arena where you can continue to hone your skills and be a contender for the
Duelmastership. Veteran managers...do you want to make Duelmasters the best it can
be? Help newbies and make an arena of your own?
This is a wonderful chance for everyone. For the newer players to make a
serious impact on an arena and veteran players to be a "founder" of an arena.
Managers like Don John, Mutt Lange, The Rake and myself want you to help make DM-43
the best arena out there. We don't want just "anyone" to come here, we want managers
who want to play hard and have fun. If that is you, then come to DM-43, Veastian.
If anyone has any questions at all, please diplo me and I will reply as soon as
possible. Now is your chance, now is the time. DM-43. -- Apollo Maximillious, mgr.
Cult of the Dragon (339), DM-43

All -- By Seefe's name, am I tired of looking at such team names as Inyo Eye and
Eggnog Warriors. Please, in the name of all that is decent on the face of Ghea, give
your teams and fighters APPROPRIATE names!! I know it can be challenging and
demanding to make up TRULY GOOD names like Boneshredders and Aerie Fire, but please,
don't call your guys something that causes me to dirge in disgust!! It really hurts
your (and my) gaming experience when my warriors have to stand against someone named
"Underwear Gnomes". After all, I can come up with ten names like Bust-a-Plumber and
Chococroc in a single minute, but why don't I do it? -- Shadowfire, mgr. of
Dragonslayers (636) in Solven (DM 22)

To anyone starting a new team -- No good sales pitch or gimmicks (yet). If you're
adding a team, please put it in Jurine, DM-61. We only have one unchartered team and
eight teams total. So why come to Jurine? Simply put; WE ARE BEGGING YOU!!! --
Wardancer, mgr. War Party
